CISA Steel Mill Output Remains Robust in Late-June
Daily crude steel output at China Iron and Steel Association member mills slipped to 1.97 Mt in the period 21-30 June, down slightly from the preceding 10 days, according to data from the industry association reported by U-metal. Nevertheless, this remains very close to the high of 2.01 Mt/day achieved in mid-May and well above the year-ago level of 1.87 Mt/day.
Fresh environmental restrictions in the production hub of Tangshan have supported steel prices. Steel production, and other polluting industries, in the city will be curtailed from 20 July-31 August as part of the local government’s drive to improve air quality in the region.
