South African Coal Exports
South African steam coal exports fell year-on-year by 0.7 Mt to 6.5 Mt in October, according to the latest data from IHS. October exports to India, South Africa’s largest market, fell on an annual basis for the third successive month, dropping 1.0 Mt to 2.0 Mt.
US Coking Coal Exports
US coking coal exports totalled 5.8 Mt in October, up 1.2 Mt on the year-ago level, according to the National Mining Association This rise in exports was driven by an increase in shipments to Japan (+0.7 Mt to 1.1 Mt) and the Netherlands (+0.7 Mt to 0.7 Mt).
Australian Iron Ore Exports
Australian iron ore exports (wet basis) fell on an annual basis for a fourth consecutive time in October by 2.7 Mt to 71.3 Mt, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reports. However, at 730.6 Mt, exports in January-October were still up by 14.7 Mt on the same period in 2017.
