Agency Alongside our competitive harbour towage operations, SSY has had close links with the US Agency business for many years. An exclusive working relationship sustained for over a decade with General Steamship Agencies (GSA) allows our expertise to span the entire continent from Dutch Harbor, Alaska to Portland, Maine.
General Steamship is of course well known as one of the foremost independently owned non-liner agency organisations in North America. Incorporating Alaska Maritime and Empire Shipping Co., we believe GSA is able to offer clients unequalled service. Please feel free to contact us for further information.
SSY has very strong links at the Panama Canal, also dating back to at least the 1940s. This connection is through our close friends and long time principals C Fernie & Co. Like our mutual principals GSA, Fernie was established in the 1920s and since that time has established a reputation as probably the foremost agency organisation in its area.

Harbour Towage Competitive harbour towage has existed in certain US ports for almost 60 years. SSY's own connections with this industry date back to the mid 1940s. During the last two decades, competition within this industry has continued to grow. Towage in most of the major US East Coast and Gulf ports, as well as in some US West Coast ports, is now competitive.
Shipowners/operators can now benefit substantially by entering into standard harbour towage contracts. SSY offers clients highly competitive rates, terms and conditions on behalf of leading towage firms in all of these main competitive ports.
Competitive towage in North/Eastern Europe has been considerably slower to develop. However, over the last few years the number of competitive deals available has also increased. SSY is well placed with leading towage firms and able to offer clients the potential of considerable savings on harbour towage costs in these competitive areas.
