 COKING COAL CONTRACT PRICES |

The first coking coal 2010 contract price has been reported settled in Japan. A Japanese steelmaker has agreed with an Australian miner to pay $200/t for coking coal for 2q10 (April-June). This represents a $71/t (+55%) increase compared with the benchmark price of $129/t for the 2009/10 financial year. It is the first time Japanese steelmakers have agreed to a quarterly pricing contract. |
