 AUSTRALIA’S ORE EXPORTS IN JANUARY REMAIN AT HIGH LEVEL |

Australian iron ore exports stood above 33 Mt for the seventh consecutive month, with an increase of 6.1 Mt (+22%) year-on-year to 34.2 Mt in January, despite a 1.5 Mt decrease from the all-time high of 35.7 Mt set in December 2009, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. January shipments to China (23.3 Mt) and Japan (5.9 Mt) fell by 10% and 5% respectively from the previous month but posted 11% and 14% increases year-on-year, while exports into South Korea showed monthly and yearly increases to 3.6 Mt. |
