According to the latest data from Japans Ministry of Finance, Japans coal imports (including anthracite) saw a modest monthly increase of 0.2 Mt to 14.9 Mt in January. Most of the increase came from Indonesia, up by 26% month-on-month to 3.4 Mt, posting the highest level since July 2006.
Meanwhile, Japans iron ore imports stood above 10 Mt for the fifth straight month, with a 1.6 Mt increase year-on-year to 10.8 Mt in January.
