SOUTH KOREAN JANUARY CRUDE IMPORTS UP ON MONTH |
01-03-2010 |
January saw South Korean crude imports rise 6.4% from the month before to an average of 2.42 mbpd, Energy Intel reports. At the same time, the latest data represents a hefty 19.5% decline in imported volumes from the same month last year. However, refiner stockpiling in anticipation of tax increases elevated the amount of crude arriving in the country in January 2009 significantly. The Middle East accounted for 2.08 mbpd (86%) of the Republic’s imports in the first month of this year, with 230 kbpd arriving from the Asia-Pacific region and 48.8 kbpd from Angola and Ecuador combined.
